Similar to a CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) share, Restaurant Supported Agriculture is a way to strengthen the bonds between those who grow our food locally and the skilled artisans that create and offer nourishment for the people of Colorado’s Front Range. Consumers and restaurants can invest directly in their local farms and share directly in the harvest. Participating RSA restaurants are given a poundage guarantee and a variety estimate at the beginning of the season for a discounted rate.  Restaurant staff are invited to join Ben on the farm to help the plants succeed and be part of the growing solution. This type of partnership is the impetus that will change our local food supply and ecologies.

An email is sent each Monday morning from Ben at Raisin’ Roots Farm to all participating RSA restaurants with quantities and varieties of all available produce.  RSA restaurants must accept a variety of produce but may indicate that they prefer more of one item than another as long as the desired poundage is available.

RSA Restaurants can choose from three different types of shares at three different levels:

Standard RSA Kitchen Share: (30 lbs/week)  $2,000

A rich assortment of the week’s kitchen harvest in the desired poundage

RSA Kitchen Share + Bar Share: (45 lbs/week)  $3,000

A rich assortment of the week’s kitchen harvest in the desired poundage + produce and herbs specific to the needs of today’s artisan cocktail makers.

RSA Kitchen Share + Bar Share + Storage Share: (75+ lbs/week)  $5,000

A rich assortment of the week’s kitchen harvest in the desired poundage + produce and herbs specific to the needs of today’s artisan cocktail makers + a full variety of produce including herbs, our rarer varieties of produce, staple root crops, and produce for pickling, preserving and canning.

Each RSA level includes a discounted CSA rate for restaurant employees.

A share in early July, for example, would include an assortment of Spring Bunching Onions, Braising Mix, Spinach, Arugula, Watercress, Sorrel, Spring Carrots, Radish, Snap Peas & Kale while a share in early September would include Broccoli, Onions, Dill, Basil, Tomatoes, Potatoes, Carrots, Summer Squash, Cauliflower, Cucumber, Kale, Parsnips, Rutabaga, Beans.

The RSA Kitchen Share + Bar Share + Storage Share is $5,000. Additional 3.5% tax for Larimer County sales.
